How do I measure my dog’s neck to ensure a good fit?
You can find a measuring guide in our product photos, but here is a more detailed explanation. Choosing the correct collar size is important to make sure your dog’s collar is comfortable, safe and secure. There are two easy ways to measure your dog, depending on whether you already have a well fitting collar.
Measuring from your dog
Use a soft, flexible measuring tape and gently place it around your dog’s neck where the collar will sit.
The tape should be snug but not tight. Take the measurement in inches, making sure the tape is sitting comfortably against your dog’s neck without pulling or squeezing.
If you don’t have a measuring tape, you can use a piece of string or ribbon and then measure the length against a ruler or standard tape measure.
For slip collars and martingales, please measure around the neck, as well as the widest part of the head to ensure the collar slips on and off.
For a comfortable fit you should be able to comfortably place 1–2 fingers between the collar and your dog’s neck.
The collar should feel secure without being too tight or restrictive.
Measuring from an existing collar
If you want to measure from an existing well fitting collar you can start by laying their current, well fitting collar flat alongside a measuring tape.
For traditional buckle collars, measure the collar from the beginning of the material to the hole that fits best. Do not measure to the end of the material. Our collars are adjustable in 3” ranges with the requested size as the middle hole and holes paced 3/4” apart. This may vary depending on the exact style and request. This green collar in the photo below measures 12.5 inches to the middle hole, which is the best fitting hole for my dog (see photo below).

For quick release collars start by laying a current, well fitting quick release collar alongside a tape measure, measure from the start of the buckle on one end to where the BioThane ends on the other end and this will give you your dog’s collar measurement in inches. Do not include both ends of the quick release – only include one end as they overlap when buckled. This is my dog Dora’s collar (see photo below) and her collar measurement is 11 inches.

Helpful Tips
Measure your dog while they are standing.
Make sure your existing collar is lying flat and is not stretched when measuring.
For puppies, remember that they will grow, so their measurements may need checking regularly.
If your dog is between sizes, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to help you choose the best size.
A correctly measured collar should be comfortable, secure and allow your dog to move freely.
We cannot accept returns or exchanges due to incorrect fit - please reach out if you have any questions on sizing.
What is your current turnaround time?
Our production time varies by product, but it is approximately 1-2 weeks for most handmade items.
Simple items (solid colour collars and leads, traffic handles, safety clips and bandanas) usually ship between 2-5 working days, but may run closer to the 2 week mark occasionally during busy periods.
UV printed items have a 2 week estimated turnaround before shipping. The printed biothane for these products is ordered through our manufactures in batches so they do take some extra time to arrive.
Embossed and Speckled Stardust painted Items have a 2 week turnaround before shipping. The Embossing and painting is done by hand, in-house and takes time to ensure a good quality finish. The paint also has set drying times before we can proceed with finishing the rest of the product.
Please be patient, and plan ahead for holidays/events. Our products are definitely worth the wait.
Do you accept returns or exchanges?
Unfortunately, we cannot offer returns or exchanges as most of our items are made to order with your custom colours, sizing and hardware choices.
Before ordering, please measure carefully and reach out with any questions, or even to see photographs of colour combos. We can send photographs of different colours together so you can see them before ordering. Many customers have found new colour combos they love, but wouldn’t have considered without us sending the photographs.
Do you accept custom orders?
Absolutely. Most of our products are made to order already, but if you have something in mind that we do not have listed, feel free to reach out! If you can dream it we will do our best to make it happen!
What makes Waterproof Coated Webbing better than leather or nylon for your pets accessories?
The material we use is a premium polyester webbing with a waterproof PVC coating that makes it far more practical than leather or rope.
It doesn’t absorb water, mud, or odours, and it stays flexible in all weather conditions. Unlike leather, it won't stretch or stiffen, and unlike rope or nylon, it doesn’t fray, absorb dirt or hold bacteria.
For busy pet owners, this means an easy wipe clean product that looks new for longer, is hypoallergenic, more hygienic and, of course, it comes in a range of beautiful colours and designs, so practical doesn’t have to mean boring.
Do you offer discounts on multiple items?
Unless we are running a sale, we do not offer discounts on multiple items. Instead, we try to keep our regular prices low and offer free standard shipping on UK orders over £75.
